Ifyou want good bass performance, then yes. Unless you do some crazy waveguides or whathaveyou, a 3/4" tweeter is going to need to be crossed well above where the woofer starts to beam, thus leading to reduced energy in the crossover region. The Buchardt S400 uses a 3/4" tweeter and a decent waveguide and it still has the above stated issue.
Onegood type of speaker for non amp systems is a 6 x 9 speaker as they can improve the bass, middle and treble all within one unit, which can cut down on the power required. A good example of which are the Rockford Fosgate R156 3 way speakers. Sale. Rockford Fosgate R169X2 Prime 6"x9" 2-Way Full Range Speakers (Pair)
2 For ease of installation I was thinking of doing the Kicker "tweeters" in the near term, adding the Alpine 445u next and then finishing with the Kicker door speakers. As far as I can tell, the Kicker tweeters do not have a crossover built in like the factory tweeters. Is this correct and does it change how the 6 speakers blend together?
Igot a 3.9uF capacitor for my tweeters, thinking of connecting it in parallel. I got a set of tweeters of 8 ohms each. I realized something. Connecting my 4 ohm speaker and 8ohm tweeter (tweeter in series with a capacitor) in parallel, results in a net resistance of 2.67 Ohms and will cause a problem for my amplifier.
